Ian HumeBEng (Computer Systems) Hons Wabtec Control Systems This paper examines the development of the SigView Train Control System (TCS) that has been deployed for VLine under the Regional Rail Link (RRL) Project. Starting with an overview of the Project and scope within the Train Control work package, the paper provides a high level overview of the functionality and architecture of SigView. Sections 4 and 5 provide some commentary on a number of key design considerations that were made during the Project. The Project has been successful in achieving its operational goals and delivering on time and budget. The application of a System Engineering Approach towards the design of Signalling and Train Control Systems has led to many improvements in the methods of design, documentation and review. A strong focus on Systems Assurance and Human Factors coupled with collaborative approach of engaging end users has provided a positive introduction of the new Train Control System. |
