197907 – Hogan – Forrestfield Hump Yard Communications

The layout and working of the Westrail Forrestfield Hump yard is described. Humping locomotives are provided with both V.H.F. and U.H.F. two way radio and also a separate channel for cab signal display. In addition a high level public address paging system is provided throughout the yard.

Other communication systems installed are talk back intercom, teleprinter, office intercom, yard telephone and PABX telephone. A general description of operation is provided on each of these systems.
