The organisation of the Signal & Telegraph Section of the Chief Engineer’s Branch is shown in Fig. 1.

Power signalling construction projects are primarily the responsibility of Electrical Signalling Section, There is no separate construction section within the organisation, each engineer being responsible for such construction works as may be allocated to him, and the respective foremen provide staff as required. Overall programming of works is co-ordinated by the Assistant to the Engineer for Signalling and Interlocking.

The respective foreman in each section is responsible for the supervision of both power signalling construction and maintenance, and allocate employees to either class of work as required.

The Line and Cable Section, Communications Section and Power and Lighting Sections are not under the direct control of the Engineer for Signalling & Interlocking. Liaison between these sections and the Signalling Section is effected initially between the heads of sections, thereafter between the individual engineers concerned.
