200007 – McDonald – Restoring the Nullabor: The Application of Vital Telemetry to Self Restoring Points Across the Nullabor

This paper is a case study on the use of some of the latest vital telemetry and communications technology to provide a safe, reliable and appropriate control solution to self restoring switches at over 40 passing loops on some of Australia’s harshest railway.

The paper describes the need, the equipment and the solution that fulfilled the requirements and contributed to a reduction of total journey travel time.
