198007 – Preston & Hennessy – The GEC-Reed Jointless Track Circuit: Westrail’s Application

This paper is presented in two sections. The first section looks at the general application of Reed Track Circuits, then examines in detail all the hardware options that comprise both A.C. immune and non-immune version of the equipment. The second section reviews Westrail’s application of the Reed Track Circuit, examining closely the evaluation programme that preceded the widespread implementation of the track circuit.
