Signalling and Systems Engineering Excellence Award
Purpose
The IRSE Australasian Section encourages high achievement in railway signalling, systems and associated disciplines. In recognition of outstanding achievement, service to the IRSE and the railway industry, the Australasian Section together with the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) present the above mentioned award.
Announcement
The award is announced at the Australasian Rail Industry Awards.
Prize
The prize for the award is:
- A certificate or plaque
- Sponsorship towards attendance at an IRSE Australasian Section Technical Meeting (notionally up to $2,000, or such amount as the Committee of Management may decide from time to time)
- The sponsorship includes travel, accommodation, meals and registration at that Technical Meeting
- The registration expense will usually be directly charged to the IRSE Australasian Section (e.g. by using a code in the event registration application), but is included in the total sponsorship value
- The other expenses are reimbursed upon presentation of receipts after attendance at the IRSE Australasian Section Technical Meeting
- It is expected that the winner will present a report on the Technical Meeting attended using the award at an IRSE Local Meeting in their home state
- The report should include a summary of the Technical Meeting and any significant learnings gained
- It is expected that the report will be presented within 12 months after the Technical Meeting.

The criteria for the assessment are published by the ARA.
Assessment
The Assessment Panel will consist of three people nominated by the Committee of Management.
The award is at the sole discretion of the Assessment Panel. If no applicant is deemed satisfactory, then no award is given. The decision of the Assessment Panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
