South Australia Local Technical Meeting (with PWI/RTSA/RTAA)

September 3 @ 5:45 pm - 8:45 pm

"Alice Springs, Australia - February 2, 2004: The first Ghan passenger train to Darwin departs Alice Springs with the spectacular MacDonnell Ranges in the background. The extra long VIP train is mid-way through its inaugural 2969km transcontinental journey from Adelaide in the South to Darwin in the North. The first train departed Adelaide February 1 and arrived in Darwin to a huge welcome on February 3, 2004. The journey from the Mediterranean South through Australias Red Centre to the tropical Top End takes the Ghan 54hrs. The Ghans symbol is a camel and its handler, in recognition of the pioneering Afghan cameleers who opened up the outback of Australia in the mid-19th century."

Details will be provided at a later time.
