199108 – Young & Barry – The V.F. Train Control Project for State Rail

This paper discusses the evolution of wayside train control communications systems, and outlines the first example of a radical new approach to train control communications, recently installed for State Rail.

Particular emphasis is given to the operational advantages of this new design, and to further developments.
