This paper aims to give an overall view of the processes necessary to achieve safety within a development project. The paper describes the main concepts of safety engineering and the methods used to achieve and assure it.
The sequence and purpose of the various tasks in the safety life cycle are explained and related to the overall development. Particular reference is made to the safety engineering conducted for the WESTECT ATP development.
