In this paper, we share a case study about how to manage on-board configurations during testing and commissioning for a large fleet. As the test locomotives must be returned to operations on the same day, the main concern is how to manage the multiple configuration baselines for different locomotives correctly and efficiently. For this reason a strict easy to follow configuration and verification process is employed, which seeks to minimise the chance of human error. The process can be broken down into three phases: Testing Readiness Review (TRR), update and verification, and return-to-operation.
